In response to His disciples’ request recorded in Luke 11:1, Jesus taught His diciples to pray using the example that has come to be known as the Lord’s Prayer. In doing so, Christ gave us a pattern for prayer that we can use to guide our times of personal and corporate interaction with our Heavenly Father.

Prayer gives us the unique opportunity to stand in the earthly, natural realm and affect things on the heavenly, spiritual realm. This, as the Apostle Paul reminds us, is where the real battle exists:

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

Ephesians 6:12 NKJV

Paul admonishes the believer to equip himself with the full armor of God to be able to stand in the battle. As soon as all the pieces of armor are mentioned, he brings us immediately onto the spiritual battlefield where the battle is fought – in prayer.

“…praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints–“

Ephesians 6:18 NKJV

The printable Lord’s Prayer Guide (link above) will expand the example Christ gave us into prayable sections that will help you take your prayer life to a new level.
